Using cell phones outside of school can be extremely helpful. You can record lectures and use a flipped classroom model which many educators are utilizing . Teachers can record lecture using video or audio files for students to listen or watch outside of the classroom. Instead of assigning tradition homework practice problems, students can now watch or listen to a video and follow up with a easy problem or two to check for understanding. This way students can have more time to practice in the classroom with the teacher serving more as a mentor or guide. The majority of our students have cell phones with data plans so they can watch the lessons from anywhere. I really like this idea because it gives me opportunity to work with students who are struggling with the concepts and I can re-teach individually or in a small group.
